Every year in September, the entire residency gets together for a 3-day, 2-night retreat at the UCLA Lake Arrowhead Conference Center. This includes every resident (with coverage provided for all clinical duties, even for off-service rotations like Medicine and Neurology) as well as all residency leadership and core teaching faculty. This annual retreat provides residents with a chance to bond with each other and with faculty. In addition, a Town Hall is held which allows each class to present their feedback on the residency. The issues brought up at retreat form the basis of the residency’s improvement efforts over the course of the following academic year.
